A Look into C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band

This year’s Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Music Festival (happening over Memorial Day Weekend 2014) is going to bring the hottest artists of the Cajun-Zydeco stage to the Simi Valley!

One of the artists we’re really excited about hearing is C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band. C.J. himself comes by his musical roots naturally (his father made history as the first Grammy-winning Creole musician). Learning at his father’s knee, C.J. is no longer on the road with his dad but rather the front man to his own band.

C.J. may look familiar – in 1995 he appeared on CNN and the Jon Stewart Show . Subsequently, he and the band have been featured on VH1, and in Entertainment Weekly. His trademark R&B styling really explore a side of zydeco that most others haven’t yet touched. Blues, funk, and Cajun all combine in C.J.’s signature style, bringing a true gumbo of sounds to the Cajun-Zydeco stage.
