Cajun and Zydeco Festival Around the Country

If you like to travel and you also love Cajun and Zydeco festivals, you’re in luck. You can check out festivals all over the country while you’re exploring everything else this great land has to offer. Many of these kinds of festivals take place in the southern states, where Zydeco and Cajun music is the most popular. The strongest roots are there for both genres, but people all over the country are appreciative of the music.

There was the Zydeco Festival Throwdown in Baytown, Texas on March 9th. The Creole Heritage Zydeco & Crawfish Festival is also in Baytown, and was held April 5th and 6th. There’s a Rhythm and Roots Festival in Ninigret, Rhode Island on August 31st and September 1st. There are also great options in Louisiana, where these styles of music remain very popular and are heard quite often. If you live a little farther west, though, you can head to Sebastopol, California and enjoy the Sebastopol Cajun Zydeco Festival. It’s being held September, 7th. A place like California might not be where you’d expect to find that kind of music, but the festival is a great choice for something unique to do.

And of course there is always the Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Festival in Simi Valley, CA every Memorial Day weekend, check out the website for more information!
