Getting to Know Our Presenter, Rotary International

The Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Music Festival, which takes place every Memorial Day weekend, is a great success thanks to The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise which produces the festival every year.

Since its beginnings in 1905, Rotary International has been devoted to providing service to others, and its motto, “Service above Self” helps to define this guiding principle. With headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, Rotary International has a membership of 1.22 million people with more than 34,000 clubs spread out all across the world.

Rotary International is comprised of professional and business leaders who get together to use their various skills, talents and knowledge to improve the lives of members of their local communities. Each local rotary club develops service programs to meet the needs of local people, while all members are also dedicated to eradicating polio from the world.

Members focus on increasing goodwill, world peace and goodwill by improving health and education while reducing poverty around the globe. Rotarians support efforts in their own communities as well as by sponsoring international projects.
