Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise stays busy year-round

For more than 20 years, the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise has hosted the biggest Zydeco, Blues, Creole and Cajun music festival west of the Mississippi.

Scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2014, May 24-25, this year’s Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Music Festival, which marks its 25th anniversary, will feature live musical entertainment on multiple stages and more than 150 booths, including sponsors and food and craft vendors. More than 18,000 people are expected to attend at the venue, Rancho Santa Susana Community Park.

However, the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise, one of three Rotary Clubs in Simi Valley, embarks on a variety of projects year-round.  Most recently, the club coordinated its annual holiday bicycle project in time for Christmas. Each year, the club purchases hundreds of children’s bicycles and donates them to a number of local charities. To do this, it joins efforts with its fellow Simi Valley Rotary Clubs, hosting a party during which club members assemble the bicycles together.
