Southern California, or SoCal as the locals call the region, has the best annual Cajun & Blues Music Festival that is held each Memorial Day Weekend. The event starts the summer in the SoCal region. The Summer 2013 outdoor event celebrated its 24th annual festival at the Rancho Santa Susanna Park in Simi Valley this past Memorial Day Weekend.

While the Simi venue has all the elements that attract fair goers, such as three stages; lots of food – much of it with a Cajun bent or southern barbeque style. There are also dance floors where free lessons take place, as well as loads of activities for the kids.

Each year the festival is bringing people together as an event for a family meet-up or the place where hard-core lovers of this genre of music meet and greet new and old friends.

Zydeco is a type of music that developed in Southwest Louisiana. It is a melding of Blues music with Cajun music to create a complete different genre – Zydeco. The Creole-speaking people of Louisiana created Zydeco.
