Tommy Castro and the Painkillers: Inspirations behind the music

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Music Festival. The festival is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend and will feature musical artists performing on both the Blues Stage and the Cajun-Zydeco Stage. This year, we are proud to welcome Tommy Castro and the Painkillers to the Blues Stage.

Award-winning guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, Tommy Castro, says he is always moving forward, listening to new music. According to TommyCastro.com, he picked up his first guitar at the age of 10 and has been inspired by blues rock musicians such as Eric Clapton, Elvin Bishop, B.B. King, James Brown, Ray Charles and Mike Bloomfield. All of his idols have been the inspiration behind the music he creates today.

Recently, Castro challenged himself to “add different sounds and new rhythms” to his latest album, while still maintaining his musical roots. Fans will be treated to a combination of his musical talents of the past and now during the festival.
