Wrapping Up Memorial Day Weekends Festivities

This year’s Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Music Festival was once again a great success, with big crowds participating in the food, fun and music over two days this past Memorial Day Weekend.

Large audiences greeted a terrific line-up of entertainers like Elvin Bishop, Janiva Magness Band, Anson Funderburgh, The Mannish Boys, Curtis Salgado, David Sousa and the Zydeco Mudbugs, Sugar Ray and the Bluetones, Lisa Haley, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Rick Estrin and the Nightcats and more.

The kid’s area was packed with youngsters enjoying the blowups, crafts and other activities designed for the little ones.

The great smells of Cajun and Creole cooking filled the air, along with the more familiar smells of Barbecue and festival treats. It was two days that all of us in the Simi Valley area can be very proud of.

We want to extend our appreciation to all of our sponsors who support this festival financially. We salute our incredible team of volunteers who make this event happen and do so with a smile. Finally, we wish to thank those in the community who came on out to share some family fun time. We look forward to next year’s benchmark 25th Annual event.
