Who Are The Yardbirds?

The Yardbirds will perform at the Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Music Festival this year. Here’s what you need to know about this awesome band.

To the Layman, The Yardbirds are most commonly known as the band that became the influence of the Guitar Gods like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. Their hits which include “Over Under Sideways Down,” “Heart Full of Soul,” and “I’m A Man.”

Led by the core members Jim McCarty (percussion), Chris Dreja (bass/rhythm guitar), and the late Keith Relf (vocals/harmonica), the band’s experimental explorations also provided the very crucial link between British R&B, Psychedelic, and Heavy Metal rock.

After a long hiatus, the band reunited after long decades and McCarty and Dreja brought The Yardbirds into the 21st century with the 2003 release of Birdland. The band then commemorated their 50th Anniversary with the release of their DVD Making Tracks back in 2013.

The Yardbirds are scheduled to play on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Blue Stage during the Simi Valley Cajun and Blues Music Festival. Scheduled times are still in the works, so make sure to check our schedule to get a better idea as the date approaches.
